Dominique Albertelli was born in France and currently lives and works in Paris. As a child, she traveled often, especially in the Indian Ocean and later in South America and the Amazon. She studied Ethnology at university. She lived for several years with two Amerindian tribes on the Oyapock River. Back in Paris, she attended the Ecole Boulle from 1986 to 1990. For many years, she was an illustrator for an Italian daily newspaper. She works mainly with monumental paintings and drawings in a new tense and refined figuration.. Her travels and total immersion in the Amerindian tribes of Amazonia have undeniably marked her artistic practice. As a visual artist, she questions humanity in all its complexity.
